Green Globe – History:

Manchebo was first benchmarked against the Green Globe Standards on June 19, 2003 and was later assessed and proudly certified on October 4, 2003. The Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism (CAST) awarded Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa in the year 2005 the title for "Most Improved Benchmarking Performance in the Caribbean".

In its recognition to deliver continuous environmental improvements and to secure a sustainable future for the business the resort became the first Certified Green Globe Resort by achieving the prestigious Green Globe Certified Gold status in January 2008 under the global Certification program of EC3 Global. After 5 years of continuous certification, going green has been an effective way to significantly reduce operational costs (through reduced resource use) and thus lower our impact on the environment.

In its continuous efforts the resort’s Green Team continues to support the environment and the community through means of sponsorship, supporting of local musical scholarships, charitable fundraising, local school support, contributions to the Aruba Reef Care Project and Annual Coastal Clean-ups.

Did you know that sea turtles return to their natal beach in order to nest. They use the earth’s magnetic fields to guide them on their long journeys at sea. Sea turtles do not nest every year but rather every 2 – 5 years. The leatherback sea turtles of Aruba lay about 115 eggs a clutch. The female leatherback will next 6 to 8 times a season. It is estimated that only 1 in 1000 hatchlings survives to maturity. All species of sea turtles are endangered and need your protection.
