Aruba Does Christmas Differently: Feel the Dutch, Venezuelan, and Caribbean Traditions

December 06, 2017

We bet you think Aruba celebrates Christmas just like all of the other islands? Well, you are wrong! With an eclectic mix of cultures, we chose the best customs from each country and blend them seamlessly. We are happy people, so naturally we are jumping to wish people Bon Pasco y Bon Aña, which translates to Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Festive foods you may experience are Black Cake, called Bolo Pretu, which is made of scrumptious dried fruits, spices, and infused brandy and fruit liqueurs. Some other popular treats are pistachio cake, pumpkin soup, and oliebollen, deep-fried balls of dough that are covered in powdered sugar. Feeling hungry? Us too. However, if you want to truly bask in the holiday spirit, visit the Christmas light show illuminating the hill of Seroe Preto. These are just a couple of reason to spend the holidays with in Aruba. We hope to see you soon!
