Manchebo Announces Long Term Partnership with Scol Dun’un Man

Eagle Beach, Aruba — On February 24th, during the Manager’s Cocktail Party of the resort, Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa officially announced a meaningful long-term collaboration with Scol Dun’un Man, the only school on Aruba dedicated to children with severe intellectual and learning challenges.

The foundation for this partnership was initiated in November of last year, when both organizations began exploring ways to create a sustainable impact together. Today, that vision becomes a formal commitment. Manchebo will donate USD 10,000 to support the school’s programs and future development.

The shared goal is to help the school further develop its café initiative, Bushi Dushi Cafe, providing students with hands-on experience and valuable life skills in a safe and inspiring environment. Beyond financial support, this collaboration focuses on empowerment through hospitality education. Manchebo will assist the school with practical hospitality training, including kitchen setup guidance, basic cooking techniques, serving skills, and marketing expertise.

The moment was made even more meaningful by the presence of Her Excellency Gerlien Croes, Minister of Education, Youth, Kingdom Relations, Innovation and Sports, who joined the celebration in support of this important community initiative. Also present were Sharline Geerman, Director of Scol Dun’un Man, whose leadership and vision continue to strengthen the school’s impact and daily operations, and Tarah Terhorst, the school’s dedicated art teacher, who plays an essential role in guiding the students’ creative expression and artistic development. Together with the entire team, their commitment and passion create a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence, and self-expression.

The partnership already began in action earlier this year. In January, Manchebo opened the new year with a special 108 Sun Salutations yoga class. The donation-based event brought together guests and community members, with all proceeds contributed to the school in support of its programs. Also, during the Manager’s Cocktail Party, the kids can proudly display and sell their art to the tourists, together with their home-made pesto sauces, proudly called Our Pesto is the Besto.

Scol Dun’un Man plays a vital role in Aruba’s community, offering personalized education and life skills training to its students, helping them work toward greater independence and confidence. The school’s dedication, passion, and impact have deeply inspired the Manchebo team.

“This partnership reflects who we are as a resort,” said Edgar Roelofs, General Manager “Hospitality is about care, opportunity, and community. We are honored to walk alongside Scol Dun’un Man in a long-term collaboration that invests in the future of these incredible children.”

Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa looks forward to growing this partnership in the years ahead, combining hospitality expertise with heart to create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of Aruba.
