Meet the Chef
Mylene Lapinid - The Culinary Artitst behind Omakase Japanese Sushi Bar
At the heart of Omakase Japanese Sushi Bar's exquisite creations is Chef Mylene Lapinid, a culinary artist with a unique and inspiring journey. Originally from the Philippines, Chef Mylene moved to Aruba in 1995, bringing with her a master’s degree in fashion design. Her keen eye for detail and artistic sensibility, once channeled into fashion, found a new expression in the world of cooking—specifically in the delicate and intricate art of Japanese cuisine.
Chef Mylene’s culinary journey began with a deep passion for Japanese flavors and techniques. Over the years, she honed her craft under the guidance of a master chef, who taught her the traditional art of sushi making. This foundation of knowledge grew as she immersed herself in the culinary world, expanding her expertise through hands-on experience and specialized courses.
For over a decade, Chef Mylene explored and mastered the diverse facets of Japanese cuisine, working at esteemed restaurants such as Sakura, O Sushi Mi, and House of Japan. These experiences shaped her culinary style, allowing her to develop a deep understanding of the intricate balance of flavors that define Japanese cooking.
Now, as the head chef at Omakase Japanese Sushi Bar, Chef Mylene enjoys complete creative freedom to bring her culinary visions to life. Her dedication to her craft is evident in every dish she serves—each one a delightful, mouthwatering creation that invites guests to return time and time again.
